About Komodo Island in The Past

Komodo Island which was previously called Komodo National Park, established since 1980 by Indonesian Goverment. It has an area of 1817 km² which was then recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1986. Along with this, the other two large islands, namely Pulau Rinca and Padar. Komodo Island and the two large islands which were then followed by the other several small ones around it continued to be maintained as natural habitat reptiles, dubbed ”Komodo Dragon”.

Gili Dasami is a small island in Indonesia, which is part of the Lesser Sunda islands, which together with the Greater Sunda islands forming the Sunda archipelago. The island is inhabited by a species of dragon lizards. Gili Dasami is part of Komodo National Park . In 1991, as part of this national park, Gili Dasami accepted as aUNESCO World Heritage Site.

Gili Motang is a small island in Indonesia, which is part of islands group in the Komodo National Park. The island has an area of about 30 km². It is inhabited by around a hundred of dragon lizard tail ( ora). In 1991, Gili Motang and other islands around Komodo Island were accepted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Komodo Island is located in the Nusa Tenggara Islands. It is known as a habitat for native animals dragons. The island is also the Komodo National Park which is managed by the Central Government. Komodo Island to the west of Sumbawa Island, separated by Sape Strait.
